Season 1, Episode 15: The Benders

"Demons I get . . . people are crazy."
You'd think that in a show with lots of supernatural creatures, an episode about people wouldn't be as scary. And yet the exact opposite is true - it's a lot creepier when the bad guy is a human.  Dean's absolutely right - people are crazy.

  • The boys managed to get themselves state police uniforms.  A little more credible looking.
  • Sam just screamed at a cat under the car.  Which already has me excited for Yellow Fever, even though I've watched that episode at least 20 times and it's not like I've been waiting for a rewatch for it.
  • I love that Sam and Dean's birthdays are the same in the Sheriff's computer system as they are when they say them in The Monster at the End of this Book in Season 4.  Hooray for birthday continuity.  (I'm looking at you, Friends.)
  • This lady at the Hibbing County Sheriff's Office is kind of like a Season One version of Sheriff Jody Mills.
  • "No offense, but this is a piss-poor rescue."  I always liked the word "piss-poor", ever since Armageddon.
  • "I lost some weight, and I've got that Michael Jackson skin disease. . ."  Haha.  Dean always thinks on his feet.
  • Even if I hadn't known that Sam was being held captive by these people, I'd still have thought Missy was a super creepy kid and would have stayed the hell away from her.
  • Fun trivia fact: the girl who plays Missy later plays Emma -- yep, Dean's daughter Emma -- in Season 7.
  • "Eat me . . . no no, wait, you actually might."
