“When you were a kid, I’d come home from a hunt and after what I’d seen, I’d be wrecked, and you, you’d come up to me, and you’d put your hand on my shoulder and you’d look me in the eye and – you’d say “It’s okay, Dad.” Dean, I’m sorry. You shouldn’t have had to say that to me, I should have been saying that to you. I put too much on your shoulders, I made you grow up too fast. You took care of Sammy, you took care of me. You did that. And you didn’t complain, not once. I just want you to know that I am so proud of you.”
"In My Time of Dying" is one of my favorite Supernatural episodes ever - an incredible start to the second season. I tell people sometimes who don't like scary shows that they could skip the first season and start with this episode - it's one of the best of the early episodes for sure.
Plus, Jensen Ackles in a white t-shirt and scrubs. Hellooooo.
"Finished #Supernatural season 1. . . just a few more seasons 'til I can finally love Misha Collins for something other than creating #GISHWHES."

So . . .
- Introducing Tessa the reaper.Or is she an angel? Supernatural is confusing.
- Sam knowing Dean was there, even though he couldn't see him - pulling out the Ouija board, feeling Dean's presence - pretty amazing."
- Tessa's conversation with Dean about how he would become a vengeful spirit if he didn't go with her, how he'd become what he hunted - I couldn't help but think about how in their final meeting in season 9, Dean was again becoming what he hunted, with the Mark of Cain taking hold of him.
- "I've made some mistakes, but I've always done the best I could. I just don't want to fight anymore, alright?" I have such complicated feelings about John Winchester. He was a horrible father and yet I do believe it's true - he did the best he could. And especially thinking back to Sam and Dean's conversation about John in "Nightmare" after seeing how Max turned out . . . it's hard too harbor too much ill will towards John, even through all the flashbacks that come later on. As Azazel says - "if only your boys knew how much their daddy loved them."
- "I want you to watch out for Sammy, okay?" Dean always did, and always does - at the expense of his own life.
- I'm amazed that Sam dropped the coffee cup when he saw John's body and that it landed right side up on the floor - that was actually a pretty awesome shot.
- Time of death, 10:41 a.m. Love the way that episode ended.
