Season 4, Episode 17: It's a Terrible Life

"Look, it's more than that.  Like, I don't like my job.  I don't like this town.  I don't like my clothes.  I don't like my own last name.  I don't know how else to explain it, except that . . . it feels like I should be doing something else.  There's just something in my blood.  Like I was destined for something different.  What about you?  You ever feel that way?"

I love everything about this episode.  We know it had to be a trick at the beginning, that our Dean Winchester couldn't be wearing suspenders, drinking rice milk, driving a Prius, and listening to NPR, eating salads and offering diet tips . . . so it was logical that the angels would be behind it.  Still, it was a total treat, and I thoroughly enjoyed it the second time around too.

• Every time I say the name of this episode I sing it to the tune of Terrible Love by The National. . . "it's a terrible life and I'm walking with spiders..."
• I will never trust Kurt Fuller in any show that he is ever in ever because he was such an ass to poor Sydney Bristow in Alias
• Love Dean and Sam's alternate universe last names Smith and Wesson
• Who the hell would think to kill themselves by sticking their head in a microwave?  I mean seriously. Head in the microwave?  What a way to go!
• Ian's reaction when Dean tells him he filled out the paperwork wrong is actually kind of funny . . . I mean it's not because we know he's probably going to go crazy and kill himself, but it's a little funny
• When Ian stabs himself it totally looks like chocolate syrup
• "So you're telling me that your dreams are special visions and you're some kind of psychic?"  "No, I mean, that would be nuts."  Hahaha.
• "Should we go check this out?"  "Like right now?"  "No. No, it's getting late.  You're right."  "I am dying to check this out right now."  "Right?!!"   I loved that dialogue.
• I love where they went with Dean in this episode, having him be the exact opposite of who he really is. Dean Winchester?  On a cleanse?  Getting rid of carbs?  Really?
• I love it when Dean calls Sam "Sammy" and Sam calls him out on it
• LOVE that the boys watched the instructional video from the Ghostfacers
• Also love that Sam's ex-fiancee's name was Madison and that when he tried to call her he got an animal hospital.  Nice call back.
• Love that the first thing that Dean says when Zachariah touches him and makes the reveal who he is is how hungry he is.
