Season 4, Episode 16: On the Head of a Pin

"I can't do it, Cas.  It's too big.  Alastair was right.  I'm not all here.  I'm not--I'm not strong enough.  Well, I guess I'm not the man either of our dads wanted me to be.  Find someone else.  It's not me."

  • Any episode with Castiel in the opening scene is a-okay with me.
  • This is the first episode where we see the angel wings after an angel is killed within a vessel . . . I think that's so cool
  • I think this is also the first time that Dean calls Castiel "Cas" to his face - I'm not sure that he ever actually even addresses him by name in any episode before this one
  • I love Cas beginning to show empathy to Dean . . . the first time around, I still wasn't sold on him at this point, but knowing now how much I grew to love him, it's nice to see the hints of the Cas I grew to love even when he still had a stick up his ass ;)
  • "Uriel's the funniest angel in the garrison.  Ask anyone."  Hahaha
  • I really did believe Cas when he said "I would give anything not to have you do this."
  • And this is the episode that we learn that what Sam has secretly been doing with Ruby is DRINKING HER BLOOD.  So creepy, Sam.
  • So John was in hell for nearly a year in Earth time before he got out when the gate opened.  I guess that means that he resisted torturing souls in Hell for MUCH longer than Dean lasted.
  • This version of Alastair is SO creepy.
  • It is super sad to see Dean in the hospital all beaten up =(
  • The lights flickered before Anna shows up - what's up with that?  Obviously the angels come and go all the time without any flickering of the lights
  • Ugh, Uriel.  So evil.  Knew it.
  • Uriel's "help me.  Help me spread the word. Help me bring on the apocalypse" speech - all I kept thinking was Jerry Maguire and "help me help you."
  • Why didn't Uriel's eyes light up right away when he was stabbed?  There was definitely a delay.
  • When Dean cries, my heart breaks every time.
  • "Son of a bitch" count: 1
