Season 4, Episode 7: It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester

"I'm not a . . . hammer as you say.  I have questions, I have doubts.  I don't know what is right and what is wrong anymore, whether you passed or failed here.  But in the coming months you will have more decisions to make.  I don't envy the weight that's on your shoulders, Dean.  I truly don't."
Just like it took a handful of episodes into Season 3 before Dean met Ruby, it wasn't until the seventh season of Season 4 before Sam met Castiel . . . hard to imagine a time before Sam and Cas knew each other.

What I said then:

"How many times do we get to hear that 'I dragged you out of hell, I can put you back in' line? #Supernatural #Season4"
"Does Castiel ever smile?  Wait, don't tell me, I don't like spoilers! #Supernatural #Season4"

And now?
  • I always feel bad for the poor guy at the beginning.  He's just feeding his little baby and wants some candy, is that too much to ask for?  Multiple razor blades in his mouth . . . what a way to go.
  • Stupid Hanna from Pretty Little Liars.  She was a high school kid on Supernatural in 2008 and she's still playing a high school kid on Pretty Little Liars in 2014.  PLAY YOUR OWN AGE, ASHLEY BENSON.
  • Dean thinking leprechauns are scary - "small hands."
  • Dean telling the kid that he'd had enough candy - that's kind of mean . . . I know Dean's not a crazy kid person, but he's usually much nicer than that with kids, even little fat ones!
  • I love what a crazy stammering, bumbling fool Sam turns into when he meets Castiel.  And, as per usual, Cas being confused by Sam holding his handout for the handshake was pretty funny.
  • I was kind of happy about the Impala being egged after Dean was so mean to the kid about the candy!
  • I felt bad for Sam being so disappointed by the angels.  I know it's hard to be let down like that when you think someone is going to be one way and they end up being something else.
  • "Are you gonna figure out a way to find this witch, or are you just gonna sit there fingering your bone?"  Oh Dean.  Love the double entendre.
  • Dean's face when he sees Sam trying to exorcise Samhain... oh Sam.
  • I don't know what the Tet Offensive is, but this is the second episode that it's referenced in Supernatural.
  • The scene between Dean and Cas at the end is great. "These kids, the swings, the trees, all of it is still here because of my brother and me."  I love Cas telling Dean he had doubts - that he was praying Dean would choose to save the town.  It's a first step towards Dean and Cas forming their profound bond.
  • "Son of a bitch" count - 3
